ADHDScan ("we," "our," or "the app") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, how we share it, and your rights with respect to your personal data. By using the app, you agree to the practices described in this policy.
Information We Collect
Account Information
When you create an account, we collect:
- Email address — used to identify your account and allow sign-in.
- Password — stored securely via Firebase Authentication using industry-standard encryption. We never store or see your plaintext password.
Camera
The app requests access to your device's camera solely to scan food product barcodes. Camera images are processed on-device and are not transmitted to our servers or stored. Camera access is only used while you are actively scanning — it is never used in the background.
Scan Data (Premium Subscribers Only)
When you scan a food product, the following data may be stored in your account history if you are a Premium subscriber:
- Product barcode number
- Product name
- Ingredient analysis result (verdict and detected trigger ingredients)
- Timestamp of the scan
Free users' scan results are displayed in-app but are not retained on our servers. Scan history is stored only to provide the core feature of reviewing past scans and is not used for advertising or marketing purposes.
Usage and Diagnostics Data
We collect anonymous, aggregated data to improve the app's performance and stability, including:
- App crashes and error reports (via Firebase Crashlytics)
- General feature usage patterns (via Firebase Analytics)
This data is collected in a form that does not identify you personally. It is not linked to your email address or account and is not used for advertising.
Purchase and Subscription Information
If you subscribe to Premium, all payment transactions are processed directly by Apple through the App Store. We do not collect, store, or have access to your payment card information. Subscription status (active, expired, cancelled) is retrieved and managed via RevenueCat, which receives a non-reversible subscriber identifier from Apple. No financial details are shared with RevenueCat.
How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect only for the following purposes:
- Email address — to authenticate your account, allow sign-in, and (if applicable) send account-related communications such as password resets.
- Camera — to scan and decode food product barcodes within the app.
- Scan history — to display your past scans within the app (Premium subscribers only).
- Usage and crash data — to identify bugs, improve stability, and understand how features are used so we can make the app better.
- Subscription status — to determine whether you have access to Premium features.
We do not use your data to serve advertisements, build marketing profiles, or sell your information to third parties.
How We Share Your Information
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information. We share data only with the following third-party service providers, and only to the extent necessary to operate the app. Each of these providers is contractually required to protect your data to at least the same standard described in this policy.
Firebase (Google)
Used for account authentication (Firebase Authentication), cloud data storage (Firestore), crash reporting (Firebase Crashlytics), and anonymous usage analytics (Firebase Analytics).
Privacy policy: firebase.google.com/support/privacy
RevenueCat
Used to manage and verify in-app subscription status. RevenueCat receives an anonymized subscriber identifier from Apple and subscription transaction metadata. No personal contact information or payment data is shared.
Privacy policy: revenuecat.com/privacy
Open Food Facts
Used to retrieve ingredient and product information when you scan a barcode. Barcode lookups are performed via Open Food Facts' public API. We do not send any personal information (such as your account email or device identifier) with these requests.
Privacy policy: world.openfoodfacts.org/privacy
We do not share your data with any advertising networks, data brokers, or analytics providers beyond those listed above.
Data Retention
We retain your personal data only for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the app's services:
- Account information — retained until you delete your account.
- Scan history (Premium) — retained until you delete your account or manually clear your history within the app.
- Crash and usage data — anonymized; retained by Firebase according to their data retention settings (typically 90 days for raw event data).
When you delete your account, all associated personal data (email address, credentials, and scan history) is permanently and irreversibly deleted from our systems within 30 days.
Account Deletion
You can permanently delete your account and all associated data directly within the app at any time:
- Open the Profile tab.
- Tap Delete Account.
- Confirm deletion when prompted.
This permanently removes your email address, account credentials, and all scan history from our systems. This action cannot be undone. You may also contact us at safescansystems@gmail.com to request account deletion manually.
Your Consent and How to Withdraw It
By creating an account and using the app, you consent to the collection and use of your information as described in this policy.
You may withdraw consent or limit data collection at any time:
- Camera access — revoke via Settings → Privacy & Security → Camera → ADHDScan on your device. The barcode scanning feature will not function without camera access, but all other features remain available.
- Analytics and crash reporting — we honor iOS system-level privacy settings. You can limit ad tracking and analytics by enabling Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking → Allow Apps to Request to Track (off) on your device.
- Account and all data — delete your account as described above.
Tracking and Advertising
We do not track you across apps or websites owned by other companies for advertising purposes. We do not use Apple's App Tracking Transparency (ATT) framework to request permission to track you, because we do not engage in cross-app tracking. The anonymous usage analytics we collect (Firebase Analytics) are used solely to improve the app and are not shared with advertising networks.
Data Security
We take the security of your personal data seriously. Your data is stored on Google Firebase infrastructure, which employs industry-standard security measures including encryption in transit (TLS) and encryption at rest. Passwords are hashed and salted by Firebase Authentication and are never stored in plaintext. Access to user data is restricted to authorized personnel only.
While we implement these safeguards, no method of electronic storage or transmission over the internet is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security.
Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data:
- Access — view your scan history directly within the app at any time.
- Correction — contact us to correct inaccurate personal information.
- Deletion — delete your account and all associated data in the Profile tab, or by contacting us.
- Data portability — request a copy of your personal data by contacting us at safescansystems@gmail.com.
- Opt-out of analytics — limit data collection via your device's privacy settings as described above.
- Do not sell — we do not sell your personal information. No opt-out is required, but you may contact us to confirm this at any time.
To exercise any of these rights, contact us at safescansystems@gmail.com. We will respond within 30 days.
Children's Privacy
ADHDScan is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us at safescansystems@gmail.com and we will promptly delete the information.
California Privacy Rights (CCPA)
If you are a California resident, you have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), including the right to know what personal information we collect, the right to delete your personal information, and the right to opt out of the sale of your personal information. As stated in this policy, we do not sell personal information. To exercise your California privacy rights, contact us at safescansystems@gmail.com.

The app is operated from the United States. If you are located outside the United States, your data will be transferred to and processed in the United States, where data protection laws may differ from those in your country. By using the app, you consent to this transfer. If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA) or United Kingdom, you have rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), including the rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability, and objection.
